Why Polypropylene Over Real Basketry
Real woven baskets (wicker, rattan, bamboo) look beautiful but absorb moisture, harbor crumbs, and develop musty smells over time. Most health departments will not approve them for direct food contact in commercial kitchens. Polypropylene woven baskets give you the same visual but are dishwasher-safe, BPA-free, and pass NSF food-contact requirements.
Sizing
12 x 8 inches is the sweet spot for tableside bread baskets in casual dining and bistros – large enough to hold a sliced baguette or a half-dozen rolls, small enough to fit on a 4-top without dominating the table. The 3-inch depth keeps bread visible without burying it.
